Job Title:
• Bilingual Early Childhood Co-Teacher
Job Summary:
• Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Teacher will be primarily responsible for carrying out (with other classroom staff) a well-balanced program of age and developmentally-appropriate activities designed to meet the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of children in his/her care under the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy.
Job Responsibilities:
• Develops and implements a well-balanced program of open-ended, child directed activities, and spontaneous curriculum activities designed to support the children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills.

• Assumes an equal share of the joint housekeeping and teaching responsibilities.
• Conducts classroom observations and documentation to ensure that the program is meeting individual and group needs.
• Makes positive contact with parents every day.
• Assists in planning and presenting parent workshop, conferences, and orientations.
• Maintains a professional attitude and a sense of ethical responsibility at all times.
• Participate in all staff meetings.
• Participate in staff development activities as needed.
• Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
• Maintains an open mind to teaching and learning
Requirements:
• Knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate practice.
• Knowledge and experience with the Reggio Emilia teaching approach desired but not required
• Experience working with parents
• Must be fully bilingual. Read, write and speak English/Spanish.
• Experience working with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
• Strong interpersonal and professional skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and parents.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Prior professional experience in classroom leadership is required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Qualifications:
• Meet Child Development Permit requirements for a Teacher (12 units in ECE and 16 in GE).
• AA degree in Child Development desired
• Experience and knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach highly desired.
• Teacher Child Development Permit desired or must apply within 90 days of employment.
• A minimum of two years paid teaching experience with children 18mos to 5years.
• Must be fully bilingual. Read, write and speak English/Spanish.
Time Commitment:
• 30-40 hours a week. Hours will vary based on program needs Monday-Saturday between the hours of 7am -6pm
Status
• Full-Time or Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
• May include nights and weekends

• Compensation depends upon experience.
