CHILD CARE ASSISTANT & SUBSTITUTE

Creative Roots Early Learning Center is a licensed and registered family child care home serving up to 6 full-time children. We have achieved the highest standards set forth through NAFCC accreditation and Keystone Star 4 certification. The Creative Roots mission is to provide the highest quality of care and education for infants to pre-k children based on NAFCC and Keystone Star 4 standards. Our vision is to move towards a group home serving up to 15 full-time children within the next 6 months. Creative Roots is looking for a few special individuals who are dedicated to helping children develop a life-long love of learning through child directed activities and structured routines utilizing an early childhood curriculum. We are seeking 4 substitutes, 2 of which will be offered a full-time position when the group home is opened.

Qualifications and Skills
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Possess 2500 hours of documented experience working with children that are not your own. Preferably between the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years. Experience can include babysitting, church groups, volunteering,... View Full Description scouting, nanny, etc.
• Demonstrate an adequate knowledge and understanding of early childhood development.
• Must understand and follow weekly/monthly classroom themed lesson plans.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, equivalent to two children infants and or toddlers and carry them upstairs to a safe location.
• Must be willing to change diapers, help with toilet training, and wash hands as needed.
• Must be willing to clean classroom and learning environment as needed.
• Must be capable of working indoors and outdoors with children.
• Must have PA and Federal child abuse and criminal history clearances.
• Must have current certification in Pediatric FirstAid.
• CDA or higher degree in early education, child psychology, child development or related field is preferred and will take precedence.
• Familiar with NAFCC accreditation and Star 4 requirements is a plus.

Job Description
4 Substitutes " be available for substituting Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm.
Full-Time " 2 Assistant Teachers who meet the requirements including preferences and education listed will be offered a full-time position within 6 months. The full-time positions are contingent on the successful registration and licensing to become a Group Home.

Because of the nature of the type of business, Family Child Care, and the requirement of a constant presence of a qualified adult during operating hours, there are no breaks or lunch period. The candidate may take up to one our during nap/quiet time to relax and eat, work on personal issues, make calls, and access the internet, but must stay present with the children at all times.

The right candidate will possess the necessary skills and qualifications listed above to perform the duties required below:

1. Follow all applicable standards in the NAFCC accreditation and Stars 4.
2. Be available and present during the specified dates and times.
3. Help children and parents transition to classroom.
4. Prepare meals and assist children during mealtime as needed.
5. Change diapers, assist in toilet training, and hand washing as needed following the posted diapering process.
6. Assist various ages of children in activities. Must be able to provide proper facilitation for each age group to optimize learning opportunities during activities.
7. Take children outdoors before lunch and following the afternoon snack as long as the weather permits following the PA guidelines.
8. Clean in, under, and around eating area. Sweeping floors, and wiping tables and chairs at the end of the day or as needed at other times.
9. Vacuum carpeted areas and clean bathroom once a week or as needed at other times.
10. Perform other duties as requested or needed to maintain a safe and healthy effective learning environment for early childhood development.
11. Willing to support and maintain the highest in quality early childhood education and development.
