Daycare Director

Incumbent serves as Daycare Programs Director, responsible for development, health and wellbeing of the children enrolled in our daycare. The Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the daycare, managing all daycare employees, and ensuring the daycare and its staff complies with all State and Federal requirements as they relate to residential child care homes.


DUTIES:
Manage daily operations of daycare center, ensuring a healthy and proactive environment for students and staff.
Develop and implement program operating policies and activities as required; develop cost estimates for future program needs.
Contribute to formation of annual program budget and expend funds according to program and state guidelines; responsible for ensuring that programs operate within budgetary parameters established; if circumstances cause budget to exceed or create potential for budget to be exceeded, plan and implement cost reduction SOPs.
Prepare and maintain administrative and business reports and records of the daycare and ensure timely submittal per Angies List and state guidelines.
Maintain accurate, complete, and organized classroom, state, employee, & child records.
Maintain and build upon Paths to QUALITY rating levels environment.
Ensure that the daycare and staff conform to federal, state, and local rules, regulations and licensing requirements. Create a fun and interactive learning experiences while serving as a mentor to staff.
Maintains ongoing, open communication with parents, caregivers, classroom assistants, and daycare staff.
Plan periodical parent conferences to discuss childrens developmental progress, needs, and interests.
Generate and maintain staff schedules and staffing to ensure optimal staff to child ratios to comply with state regulations at all times.
Maintain a fun and interactive environment that is clean and organized.
Work cooperatively with team to ensure a positive work environment that meets programs goals.
Uses technology to document child daily reports and ongoing progression of developmental milestones and develop activities to address individual needs of each child.
Interview and hire qualified staff as needed.
Plan, develop, schedule, and/or provide in-service training and evaluation of child care staff.
Ensure smooth operations of classroom and programs.
Order and maintain child care supplies and equipment.
Oversee weekly lesson plans and age appropriate curriculum in accordance with program goals.
Attend team meetings and meet professional development hours to embrace ongoing learning.
Report all incidents timely as required by law.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE:
Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of child care experience.
Experience working in a licensed childcare facility or licensed home.
Experience in managing staff or other supervisory experience
Experience overseeing classroom and educational lesson plans.
Candidates must be able to provide all state required documents: -Proof of age (over 18)
-Criminal History Check/Fingerprinting
-Substance abuse test
-Physical exam/TB test
-Infant/Child CPR
-First Aid certificate
-Universal Precautions Certificate
-Safe Sleep Training


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient Knowledge required of local, state and federal laws regarding safety requirements and inspection and certification procedures as they relate to child care homes, to ensure that the daycare complies with those requirements.-Preferred additional working knowledge related to child care centers

Knowledge of small business and personnel management, budget oversight, and positive team building required.
Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work.
Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining overall positive and professional altitude.
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills required.
Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities.
Ability to manage confidential information.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40 pound child.
Candidates must be able to provide all state required documents: -Proof of age (over 18)
-Proof of attendance in Indiana Orientation Training Session # 1 for residentially licensed homes.
-Criminal History Check/Fingerprinting
-Substance abuse test
-Physical exam/TB test
-Infant/Child CPR
-First Aid certificate (Current or to be completed within 90 days of hire)
-Universal Precautions Certificate (current or to be completed within 30 days of hire)
-Safe Sleep Training
